twisted metal coffin

there they were. Enjoying the ride. Trusting in God's grace and the driver. Juan lights a cigarette and puffs on it savoring. everyone on the vehicle was chatting. Juan's mind wanders. He likes the wind in his face and the fast lane. He thinks about what he would see in the place they were going. He thinks of all the fun he was going to have. Beaches, caves, reefs, amusement parks, towers and more.

Then everything goes blank. His sight frozen on the dashboard. He felt nothing. He no longer hear the other voices. All he could hear was the sound of metal crunching as it was twisted and bent. His instincts kicked in but he was frozen by the uncertainty of what just happened.

His hearing returns, but only hears sighs of pain and cries of disbelief.

The elegant bus they were on was called "Pinas" and the train that hit them was called "reality."
"Pinas" was now reduced to a chunk of twisted metal.

Juan regains his thoughts. Pinned down on his chair, he checks to see if everyone was alright. Every one was either dead or dying.

Juan checked the driver's seat but the driver was no longer there. All that Juan could see were a bag of 105,000 euros, empty bottles of liquid fertilizers priced P.728M, a few dead journalists and lefties and a CD with the writings "garci."

Juan stared at the twisted metal that imprisoned him. He thought if this were going to be his coffin. Juan started to talk out loud and asked himself, "Why did I let that four-foot monkey drive?"

train-car-bike (stupid driver!)

around 1pm of Nov. 10, 2008, I was on my way to school when I witnessed a stupid act by a motorist. It was on the corner of San Andreas and Osmen, near a railroad track. our jeepney stopped to let the train pass. (because to race against a train would be utterly stupid) then we saw a blue Isuzu Crosswind inching closer to the tracks. a traffic enforcer or some guy with authority signalled him to stop. Hell if anyone knew what the driver was thinking. Maybe he thought it was a corrupt enforcer so he drove on ignoring the signal.
then slam! Right at the center of the Isuzu crosswind. the train threw the car sideways out of the way. And the train chugged along its way.
a lot of people rushed to help the driver. Most just stood and stared. I almost laughed out loud because of the stupid driver. I honestly think it serves him right. But I stopped myself when I heard my fellow passenger say that there was a lady on a bike. then I saw the bike under the car. I couldn't see anything more because the crowed grew thicker.
I really don't know if anyone died. I guess I'll have to see in the newspapers tomorrow. But thoughts played in my mind.
the driver could have survived if he had his seat belt on. He could only have had minor injuries. But what of the lady. the car flew maybe six, seven feet off the ground and could have easily crushed that lady on the bike. Fuck the driver. It was his fault he got into this mess. But the lady was minding her own business. minding her place. She wasn't racing against the train.
I really don't care about the driver. He was behind the wheel. He drove forward despite of the warnings. He could die and go to hell for all I care. reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.
But the lady was innocently riding a bike. Ignorant of that stupid driver.
Then I thought of how she would look like before the accident. How old was she? Did she have a boyfriend or a husband? did she have kids? and if yes, how many? Could she sing, dance and play an instrument? Could she draw? How hard could she laugh with a good joke? How would her family react?
